Why that 2500W number actually matters
Think of that 2500W rating as a precision tool. You need a very specific amount of heat to soften PET preforms in a tiny window of time. If the wattage is too low, the plastic stays cold. Too high? You’re burning the material. We keep the voltage and wattage incredibly tight so every single lamp in your oven is doing the exact same job. No more “cold spots” messing up your production run.
The nuts and bolts
We use high-grade quartz glass because these things take a beating from rapid heating and cooling. Inside, the tungsten filament is halogen-filled. This does two things: it makes the lamp last longer and keeps the heat focused right where the PET can actually absorb it. As for the install, it’s a breeze. We use standard industrial connectors for a snug fit. You don’t want a loose connection here. At these power levels, a loose wire means resistance, which leads to arcing and a burnt-out lamp. Simple as that.
A quick tip from the shop floor
Here is the thing: a 2500W tube puts out a massive amount of heat. Your oven’s ventilation has to keep up. If your cooling fans are clogged with dust or just dying, that ambient heat builds up and kills your lamps faster. Do yourself a favor and check your airflow before you swap in the new tubes. The best part? When your lamps are matched, you can stop messing with your PLC temperature settings every ten minutes. Just wire them in, set your power, and enjoy a flat heating profile across the entire rotation. It just works.
